City officials in Long Beach and the City of Industry alerted residents about military training exercises scheduled for Thursday night. Residents were informed they might hear helicopters, controlled explosions, and simulated weapons fire.

In Long Beach, these noises could persist until 2 a.m. Police will be present to manage pedestrian and vehicle safety. The city warned, “To preserve operational safety, we’re unable to provide further information regarding the nature of the training, location, or timing.” The event remains closed to the public and media.

Similar activities were conducted Wednesday night in Irvine and Pasadena. Pasadena spokesperson Lisa Derderian explained that these exercises are part of the military’s standard drill across the U.S. Derderian emphasized the importance of informing the public, particularly during election week.

The training in Pasadena occurred at the old St. Luke Hospital near Altadena Drive and Washington Boulevard. Despite warnings, some residents expressed concern over the sounds and secrecy surrounding the exercises.

Efforts to inform residents included using various platforms such as social media, Nixle, and reverse 911 to ensure public awareness.
