Trump emphasized that temporary appointments offer increased authority for a limited timeframe. He announced Pulte as the successor to Tulsi Gabbard for the director role, despite Pulte’s lack of national security background.
Rather than seeking Senate confirmation for Pulte, Trump will allow him to serve in the position for 210 days, leveraging Pulte’s previous Senate confirmation for a different role. Pulte, known for his steadfast support of Trump, has been active in highlighting alleged misconduct by individuals and bodies Trump believes oppose him politically.
