Armenian Prime Minister’s Push for Closer EU Ties

2 weeks ago 0

As Armenia gears up for a national election this Sunday, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been focusing on strengthening ties with the European Union. He has proudly shared that President Donald Trump supports this direction.

On Friday, people gathered in Yerevan for a campaign rally organized by the Civil Contract party, with Pashinyan as its leader. This event comes amid escalating tensions in the South Caucasus, where Armenia finds itself in a geopolitical tug-of-war between Russia and the Western countries.

Armenia’s lean towards the EU and the United States has led to severe economic penalties from Russia. President Vladimir Putin has issued a cautionary remark, suggesting Armenia might endure consequences similar to those faced by Ukraine.
