2 weeks ago 0

The Toledo Police Department is actively searching for a 20-year-old suspect and a potential accomplice in connection with a shooting at a neighborhood festival in Toledo that injured 12 people. Authorities have identified the suspect as Ka Nye Taylor, who faces 11 counts of felonious assault following the Old West End Festival shooting. The police announced these charges after conducting interviews and gathering investigative leads.

Taylor is described as a Black man, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. In addition to Taylor, police are seeking assistance from the public to identify a ‘second shooter’ based on photos obtained by investigators.

Crime Stoppers and the U.S. Marshals Service are offering rewards for information leading to the arrests. The available rewards are $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.

The incident, labeled as a mass shooting, occurred due to a dispute between two rival groups, as stated by the police. Victims range in age from 14 to 61, with most in their early 20s, according to Lt. Dan Gerken of the Toledo Police. Many appear to be innocent bystanders, with Police Chief Michael Troendle noting that although some victims were targeted, the majority were caught in a random act of violence.

The police estimate that three victims were directly involved in the groups’ dispute, while the other nine were unintended targets. All injured individuals are expected to recover, and nine have been released from the hospital. Chief Troendle mentioned that officials are still gathering details on how the shooting transpired on that Saturday night.
