Police Activity Closes Northbound 101 Freeway in Los Angeles

On Thursday morning, all northbound lanes of the 101 freeway near downtown Los Angeles were blocked by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) due to police activity in Boyle Heights. This closure triggered significant traffic congestion.

The traffic blockade occurred north of 4th Street at approximately 9 a.m., leading to extensive backups. According to CHP logs, vehicles were diverted off the 4th Street exit while an investigation proceeded.

Reports from KTLA indicated that one individual was sent to the hospital following an officer-involved shooting on the freeway. CHP officials have not yet disclosed details about the incident or issued a SigAlert. Department representatives have not responded to information requests at this time.

Video footage from KTLA displayed crime scene tape and a number of patrol cars present on the freeway. The traffic jam extended for several miles. Police first responded to the site around 7:30 a.m., and the SigAlert was declared at 8:55 a.m., based on CHP records.
