Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is preparing for a significant personal milestone: his upcoming marriage to pop star Taylor Swift. The couple plans to marry on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The event might cost them around $20 million.
With the wedding approaching, some questioned whether the preparations have impacted Kelce’s performance during the team’s organized training activities (OTAs) and mandatory minicamp. However, head coach Andy Reid reassured fans on Thursday, describing Kelce’s recent performance as solid.
“Can’t talk about it,” Reid joked, highlighting that non-disclosure agreements protect details of the wedding from leaking. “He’s been here most of the offseason — if not the whole offseason — [so] he’s been around,” Reid noted. “He did the mandatory camp and did a nice job there, so it’s good to have him back in and rolling. He’s very excited. You see no distractions with [him] and the wedding.”
Reid also humorously mentioned that when he got married, he let his wife lead the plans, suggesting Kelce might be doing the same.
Kelce has maintained full participation in the offseason activities. The wedding occurs weeks before the start of the training camp in late July, indicating that careful planning went into aligning the wedding schedule with key team activities.
Reports indicate that Kelce and Swift will delay their honeymoon. They intend to take an extended overseas trip later in the year, visiting Asia, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Italy, and Paris.
