U.S. Government Restricts Anthropic’s AI Models over Security Concerns

The artificial intelligence lab Anthropic announced on Friday the closure of access to its latest and most advanced AI models. This move follows a decision by the U.S. government to prohibit foreign nationals from using the technology due to national security risks.

Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, addressed an audience at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February. The government’s decision imposes a comprehensive federal export restriction, reflecting worries about potential hacking threats. Such measures are deemed necessary to protect national security interests.
