U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his enthusiasm after touring the newest addition to the presidential air fleet at Andrews Air Force Base on June 19, 2026. The aircraft, a Boeing 747 gifted by the Qatari government, arrived earlier than anticipated at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
The luxurious plane, having initially sparked debate, stands as one of the largest foreign gifts received by the U.S. government. Questions regarding its legality and ethics arose following Qatar’s offer to replace the presidential jet. In May of the previous year, Trump claimed it would be unwise not to accept. Industry estimates valued the aircraft at approximately $400 million.
During a speech in front of the plane, Trump thanked Qatar’s Emir and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, commending the plane’s craftsmanship. He declared it the “world’s most luxurious plane,” comparing its transformation to a flying White House.
“This plane was transformed into a flying White House at a level of luxury that nobody’s ever seen before, probably even almost outside of an airplane,” Trump stated. “Nobody’s ever seen anything like this, and in only 10 months, a timeframe no one thought possible.”
The VC-25B Bridge aircraft will soon begin commissioning flights. These flights serve as a “final exam” to validate readiness for presidential missions, as detailed in an Air Force press release. Once successful, the plane will officially join the executive airlift fleet.
This aircraft from Qatar will act as a temporary solution until the long-term VC-25B is delivered. Initial projections expected delivery by 2028, but modifications allowed for a 2027 delivery. The Air Force prioritized mission capability over aesthetic changes, keeping much of the previous interior intact.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Ken Wilsbach hailed the delivery as a triumph. He praised the accelerated timeline that allowed for a secure, reliable airborne command post to be delivered ahead of expectations.
