A Special Wedding Honoring a Legacy

Weddings often become memorable due to the place or the people involved. For Samantha Albright and Josh Campbell, their ceremony in Aurora was meaningful because of two absent but influential people. The couple exchanged vows in Chet and Judy Albright Park on Iowa Avenue, named in honor of Samantha’s grandparents, whose influence still resonates with their family and community.

A Thoughtful Choice of Venue

Samantha and Josh initially considered several venues for their wedding. However, the significance of those who would not be present guided them to choose this park. Chet Albright, who passed away in 2017, spent his early years at Mooseheart, where he met Judy, his future wife of 56 years. He played a crucial role on Aurora’s City Council as the first alderman from the 6th Ward. He shaped the city during his eight-year tenure, especially noted by Ald. Mike Saville, who succeeded him when Chet left to work at Mooseheart in 1987.

Significant Contributions to the Community

On the City Council, Chet was instrumental in transition to a new government structure. He chaired the Plan Commission and helped establish Aurora’s first economic development office. He aided the expansion of the far East Side, where the roads transformed into vital connections after the Fox Valley Mall opened in 1974. Beyond politics, Chet owned Northgate Barber Shop and engaged in local organizations like Boys Baseball of Aurora and the Rotary clubs. His wife Judy was dedicated to working with special needs children at Hope Wall School.

Both Chet and Judy were celebrated for their warmth and devotion to family. Samantha remarked on her grandmother’s quiet nature and her grandfather’s extroverted charm, recognizing people everywhere. Her grandparents supported her unwaveringly, attending all her events even if travel was required. Samantha cherished their conversations, particularly her grandfather’s storytelling sessions where he practiced public speeches with her, creating lasting family memories.

A Ceremony Filled with Appreciation

The wedding, attended by around 16 family members, included profound moments, especially with the exchange of rings. Samantha and Josh married on June 20, 2026, in the park named for her grandparents. Judy had gifted Samantha the wedding bands she and Chet wore, which Samantha kept safe until her engagement to Josh.

Alderman Saville was pleased the couple celebrated their union in the park honoring Chet and Judy Albright, who dedicated much of their lives to community service. Samantha holds fond memories of car rides with her grandfather, who proudly highlighted city changes, always focusing on positivity and pride for Aurora.

Chet and Judy’s names would forever hold a place in Albright Park, established in 2023. They lived their lives well, and their influence continues to inspire. Judy’s message to her granddaughter—“enrich the lives of others as you have enriched mine”—is imprinted on Samantha’s left forearm. This sentiment was prominently visible as Samantha and Josh pledged their vows, marking a day built on love, legacy, and commitment.
