A 56-year-old man was discovered dead on Thursday night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Authorities reported that the man was attacked by at least one dog. His body was found around 8:50 p.m. in the yard of a home located in the 2000 block of West 47th Street.
The Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office provided these details. The medical examiner’s office released an autopsy report on Friday, confirming that the man died from ‘multiple injuries’ resulting from ‘dog mauling.’ His death has been classified as an accident.
As of Friday afternoon, the man’s home address was unknown. Attempts to reach his family for comments have been unsuccessful. It remains unclear how many dogs were involved in this tragic event.
The Chicago Police Department stated that detectives are currently investigating the death.
