Egypt Coach Hossam Hassan Resolves Hotel Incident With Dallas Police

Egypt’s national football coach, Hossam Hassan, affirmed on Friday that a recent altercation involving him and team director Ibrahim Hassan with a police officer in Dallas is now resolved. The incident took place at the team’s hotel just before Egypt’s match against Australia in the FIFA World Cup round of 32.

Footage began circulating on Thursday, showing both individuals engaged in a dispute with a Dallas police officer. The argument originated over a player attempting to take a photo with a young fan in the hotel lobby. Initially, the officer approached Hossam Hassan, leading to a confrontation with Ibrahim Hassan.

Dallas police later explained they responded to hotel security’s request, involving someone without event credentials. The issue was promptly settled on-site, and no arrests or injuries were reported. Egyptian representatives met with police to voice their concerns and received an apology, as confirmed by Hossam Hassan through a translator.

“We are really happy to be here at this tournament, and we are satisfied with the security personnel that are accompanying us,” Hossam Hassan expressed. He praised the high level of organization and security provided throughout the event.

The coach, who has led Egypt since 2024, further emphasized his appreciation of the cooperation and did not delve into specifics about the incident. Following the incident, Egypt faced Australia in their World Cup debut knockout stage.

World Cup Milestone

Hossam Hassan holds the unique distinction of being the first individual to both play and coach Egypt in the World Cup. The team’s progress into the knockout rounds began with an undefeated performance in the group stage.
