Artist Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday with Monumental Flag Painting

Scott LoBaido, a patriotic artist known for his outspoken support of Trump, is concluding work on what he claims to be the largest oil-on-canvas portrait of the American flag. Created at the Great American State Fair in D.C., he emphasizes that the painting is completely apolitical despite his political views.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, LoBaido made it clear that the American flag is a symbol for everyone, not tied to any particular political party. He is painting the 9-by-17-foot flag at the Made in America Pavilion, marking America’s 250th birthday.

“I am a political person, but that’s irrelevant from this. This flag is for everybody,” LoBaido said.

LoBaido shared his perspective with Fox News Digital, commenting that some people from the political left misunderstand the flag as a MAGA symbol. He argues that this interpretation overlooks both the flag’s significance and the intention behind his artwork.

The fair is a diverse gathering, with Democrats also attending, but political discussions are set aside. LoBaido focused on the flag, the art, and its meaning within the context of America’s anniversary celebration.

Regarding those who protest by desecrating the flag, LoBaido contends that the flag symbolizes the very freedoms those protesters exercise. It stands as a protector of freedom and the right to protest.

“The American flag that men and women still die for is giving you the freedom to be whatever you want, and do whatever you want – protest whatever you want,” LoBaido emphasized. “So that flag should always be up in the air.”

The unique features of this painting are its size and live creation setting. “I believe this is the largest American flag done with oils on canvas,” LoBaido remarked, noting that it measures a colossal 9 feet by 17 feet. It represents his most detailed work.

LoBaido chose to create this piece at America’s 250th birthday celebration, considering the American flag itself to be a remarkable work of art.

“Where better to unveil, create in public, live, this greatest work of art—not mine, but the American flag itself—at the birthday party of the greatest place in the universe, America, and its 250th birthday party?”

The final unveiling is expected to be an emotional event, with finishing touches planned for Independence Day. The painting will eventually find a permanent home and LoBaido expressed interest in making the moment memorable.

Preparation for the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair is underway. Exhibits will cover the National Mall with representation from all 56 states and territories.

“I’m just going to put the final touches on it and maybe make an emotional statement, a little speech,” LoBaido said, highlighting his passion for the country and a deep appreciation for the Star-Spangled Banner.

The painting has attracted interest already, and LoBaido suggested the possibility of it being displayed at the White House ballroom, noting that Trump owns several of his paintings.

“Would this not look great in the White House ballroom?” he proposed, pondering its future with a gold frame, while joking that President Trump may need to be generous if he wants to acquire it due to LoBaido’s charitable intentions with proceeds.
