Sneako’s Controversial Comments in NYC Spark Backlash

Streamer Sneako is facing significant backlash due to remarks made during a livestream in New York City. He referred to the city as the “Islamic Republic of New York-istan” and stated that Islam would be “in every household.” These comments were made amidst celebrations by Egypt fans in New York after a World Cup victory over Australia, as reported by Fox News.

Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, known as Sneako, is a controversial internet personality with over one million followers on a major streaming platform. Fox News reported that he converted to Islam in 2023. During the June 3 livestream, amid the celebrations of Egypt supporters, he shouted “Allahu Akbar.” Sneako declared, “This is the Islamic Republic of New York-istan. Islam will be in every household. Inshallah the whole world will be Muslim.”

He also commented on New York City’s political scene, referencing Mayor Zohran Mamdani, the city’s first Muslim mayor. Sneako stated, “Welcome to Mamdani’s New York. You see this city? You see how it looks? Inshallah, your city looks just like this too.”

Alex Jones Calls for Deportation

The comments led to immediate outrage online, particularly among conservative commentators. Fox News reported that the video clip garnered tens of millions of views across platforms like Instagram and X. InfoWars founder Alex Jones demanded Sneako’s deportation, a suggestion seconded by Elon Musk who replied with “Yes!”

Sneako did not backtrack or apologize for his comments. Instead, he seemed to embrace the controversy, posting, “Every knee will bow. Every tongue confess,” after the backlash started. He responded to Musk’s agreement with Jones by telling Musk, “go back to Africa,” and added, “This is my country.”

Sportskeeda noted that Musk also found another post by author Gad Saad about religious demographics “Troubling” after the clip circulated. According to Fox News, X users suggested Sneako should be sent to Iran and called him a “disgusting creature.” Sneako further intensified the situation with another post, stating: “Islamic Republic of Ameristan. Inshallah your household hears the call to prayer blaring through the window 5x a day.” Jones remarked on this by accusing Sneako of seeking to declare America an “Islamic republic.”

This new controversy surrounds New York City’s political climate, particularly focusing attention on Mayor Mamdani. He has already been a national political flashpoint due to his victory speech describing New York as “a city of immigrants” now led by an immigrant and his self-described democratic socialist views. Newsweek contacted the mayor’s office for comment via email on Monday.
