Following two fatal shootings that occurred in close succession, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) temporarily paused its strategy of stopping cars to arrest undocumented immigrants. This decision was made in response to the tragic events in Houston and Biddeford, Maine.
A Washington Post investigation uncovered that these recent deaths are part of a series of at least 17 similar shootings since the start of President Donald Trump’s term nearly 18 months ago.
The situation gained further attention when President Trump made a social media post seemingly contradicting the temporary halt initiated by ICE. This post sparked debate and concern among various communities and advocacy groups.
