Darline Graham has shown interest in pursuing a full Senate term, according to a report. This follows her appointment to finish the term of her late brother, Lindsey Graham. Her appointment by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster took place on Monday. She took her oath of office on Tuesday.
Sources told The Associated Press that Graham has begun discussions regarding a potential Senate campaign. The special primary filing period runs from July 21 to July 28 with the primary slated for August 11. Other notable political figures, such as Reps. Russell Fry, Nancy Mace, and Ralph Norman, along with Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, are also considering entering the race.

Lindsey Graham’s sister is the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate. She also holds the unique distinction of being the first sister to be appointed to the Senate. Memorial services for Lindsey Graham will take place on July 28 in Washington, D.C., and on July 29 in South Carolina’s Columbia and Pickens County.
“Lindsey has always been there for me, and now I will be there for him,” Darline Graham expressed during her appointment ceremony. “My brother was the most amazing person, outstanding leader, and just a genuinely good man.”
Remembering Lindsey Graham
Lindsey Graham passed away at 71 on Saturday. His cause of death, as stated by the District of Columbia’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, was an aortic dissection caused by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Darline Graham is expected to serve as a caretaker for the seat until Lindsey Graham’s term concludes in January.
