Injuries Continue to Mount for White Sox Catcher Kyle Teel

Chicago White Sox catcher Kyle Teel faced a challenging moment in Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas. During the second inning, right fielder Braden Montgomery threw the ball towards home plate. Teel received it and turned to tag Ezequiel Duran of the Rangers, who was sliding in. Despite Teel’s efforts, Duran safely reached home.

Compounding the moment’s disappointment, Teel sustained a left ankle injury during the play. The White Sox announced that Teel is undergoing further evaluation to assess the injury’s severity. This incident adds to a series of injuries Teel has faced this season.

Earlier, on March 10, Teel suffered a right hamstring strain while representing Italy in the World Baseball Classic. His rehabilitation journey suffered another setback on May 16. While with Triple-A Charlotte, he sprained the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee when his front spike caught during a swing.

Teel made his 2026 regular-season debut with the White Sox on June 22. Over 19 games, he recorded a batting slash line of .190/.271/.317, with two home runs and 14 RBIs. Despite these struggles, he remains a crucial player for the team.
