President Donald Trump announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit the United States on September 24. The leaders are expected to discuss artificial intelligence (AI) extensively. This announcement was made during Trump’s remarks at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Thursday afternoon, as he spoke about his administration’s efforts to expand AI data centers in the U.S.
“President Xi is coming over on September 24th,” Trump stated. “We talked about it when I was over in Beijing, and we’ll be talking about it again.”

During his statement, Trump emphasized AI’s significance, describing it as “probably the biggest thing anybody’s ever seen.” He stressed the importance of maintaining a lead over China in the technological race. “Whoever wins that race is probably going to win, period,” he declared.
The two leaders last met when Trump visited Beijing earlier this year, during which Trump extended an invitation to Xi to visit the White House.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also communicated on Wednesday. They discussed preparations for what Rubio described as a “very positive visit,” according to Reuters.
