Police Search for Suspect in Berlin Festival Attack

Police in Germany are actively searching for a suspect identified as Abdul B in connection with an incident at Berlin’s Pride festival. The suspect allegedly drove a van into the event, resulting in the death of one person and injuring at least 16 others.

Authorities noted that the 21-year-old has known ties to Islamist circles. However, no arrests have been reported as the manhunt continues. The attack occurred around 10 p.m. local time on Saturday in Tiergarten Park, where a white van struck a crowd before hitting a tree.

Several individuals were confirmed injured by stabbing weapons during the attack. Police believe one or more individuals fled the scene. The suspect is described as being approximately six feet two inches tall, of slim build, and having black hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and white pants.

Police caution the public against approaching the suspect, as he may be armed and dangerous. Police spokesperson Florian Nath stated, “The suspect is known to police. Our search for this person is proceeding at full speed.”

Germany’s Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, commented on the situation via a post on X, describing it as an “abhorrent act in Berlin.”
