Pro Bowl Lineman Andrus Peat Retires After 11 NFL Seasons

Andrus Peat, a Pro Bowl offensive lineman, announced his retirement from the NFL in a social media post on Friday. Peat, aged 32, has ended his football career after 11 seasons. He started his journey being selected as the No. 13 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.

In his Instagram post, Peat expressed gratitude for his time in the league, stating, “11 years in the league, I gave it everything I had. I may be walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and especially my brothers in the trenches. I’m grateful beyond words that I was able to live out this dream.” He also mentioned his family, “On to the next chapter with my wife and sons. All glory to God!”

Peat’s career predominantly spanned with the Saints, where he played for nine seasons mostly as a starting left guard. During his time with the Saints, Peat earned Pro Bowl selections for three consecutive years between 2018 and 2020. He was an integral part of the team when it claimed four straight NFC South titles from 2017 to 2020.

After leaving the Saints post-2023 season, Peat joined the Las Vegas Raiders to add depth to their offensive line. He participated in 15 games, however, he started only one. Later, he moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a similar role, appearing in six games where he started three.

The announcement was met with warmth and appreciation from loved ones. Peat’s wife, Ashley, commented on his announcement, “We are SO proud of you baby!!!! Thank you for everything you sacrificed and worked so hard to provide for us all these years. Can’t wait to enjoy this next chapter with you.”
