An officer is at the center of a legal request involving two states. Christian Castro, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, faces serious allegations in Minnesota. He has been charged with four counts of second-degree assault.
The charges relate to an incident in January where Castro allegedly injured a Venezuelan immigrant in Minneapolis. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty called for action.
Moriarty reached out to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, urging his support for extradition. Her request was made in a letter, highlighting its importance. She emphasized Abbott’s approval as the “final step” needed for Castro’s transfer.
If agreed, Castro will face the charges in Minnesota’s courts, ensuring that the state can pursue justice in this case.
