Tennessee Prepares for November Gubernatorial Election

1 hour ago 0

In Tennessee, final votes are being cast to determine the Republican and Democratic candidates for the upcoming gubernatorial election in November. As a predominantly Republican state, the focus is largely on the Republican primary. Here, Senator Marsha Blackburn and Representative John Rose are the main contenders for the GOP nomination.

Throughout the race, Senator Blackburn has generally been seen as the frontrunner. Late polling, however, suggests that the competition with Representative Rose could be tighter than previously expected. Rose’s congressional district includes parts of Nashville and extends through much of Middle Tennessee.

Former President Trump has chosen not to endorse any candidate in the Republican primary. He communicated this decision during a June meeting with Tennessee’s congressional delegation.

On the Democratic side, several candidates are vying for nomination, including Memphis City Council member Jerri Green, museum president Carnita Atwater, pastor Kevin Lee McCants, businessman Tim Cyr, and musician Adam Kurtz.

Polling stations are set to close by 8 p.m. EDT, concluding the primary voting process.
