A respected elementary school teacher from Georgia, Derrick Moore, died after bravely attempting to rescue a young girl from a rip current in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The incident took place on a Friday evening near 10th Avenue South, when Moore entered the ocean to save a girl caught in a dangerous current. Despite saving the girl, Moore was pulled under by the powerful waters and went missing, as reported by the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Efforts to locate Moore continued into the following morning, with police confirming his body washed ashore by Saturday afternoon. Moore’s daughter expressed profound sorrow over his loss, highlighting his role as a cherished father and the heroic nature of his final actions.
