A Santa Monica police officer shot and killed a person armed with a knife on Saturday afternoon in Palisades Park. The event unfolded when officers arrived at the 1400 block of Ocean Avenue to address a reported domestic violence situation.
While officers were interviewing witnesses, an unrelated individual armed with a knife charged at the officers,
stated a police communication. In response, an officer fired their weapon, hitting the person.

Medical personnel from the Santa Monica Fire Department treated the individual, who was later declared dead at a hospital. The officer involved suffered no injuries.
