Bubba Watson confronted a fan during the second round of the LIV Golf Indianapolis event. Watson, playing alongside Lee Westwood and Bryson DeChambeau, addressed the fan who disrupted Westwood’s shot preparation. As Westwood readied his approach, the fan yelled “Bryson, Bryson,” prompting Watson to intervene. The two-time Masters champion approached the fan, challenging them to speak up, which did not happen. Watson commented, “Oh, you don’t want to say anything now? Say something, I’m looking at ya, say it.”

Watson’s Performance on the Circuit

Watson managed a 2-under 68 during the round, putting him in a competitive position, which has been rare for him this season. Prior to the week, he had only one top 10 finish in 11 starts on the LIV Golf circuit in 2026. Additionally, Watson missed the cut at The Masters, his sole major appearance this season.

Jordan Spieth noted that gambling is contributing to unruly golf crowds and called for action to address this issue.

Challenges Facing LIV Golf

While managing inopportune disruptions is important, LIV Golf faces more pressing challenges. In April, the Saudi Public Investment Fund announced it would stop funding the tour beyond 2026. Following this, LIV canceled its Team Championship in Michigan and moved the season finale to Indianapolis while reducing the individual purse from $20 million to $10.1 million. Moreover, LIV faces a lawsuit from Fresh Tape Media for $1.2 million related to claimed unpaid dues for pre-season media work.

Future Prospects for LIV Golf

LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil announced securing an unnamed investor to sustain the league into 2027, although details remain undisclosed. The tour plans to launch ‘LIV 2.0’, featuring players owning a majority of the equity. This future model envisions a series of 10 tournaments, half in the U.S. and half globally.
