Tristan Peters Delivers Another Walk-Off Win

Tristan Peters stepped up to the plate and delivered a game-winning home run for the Chicago White Sox in front of 27,721 spectators at Rate Field. Peters hit a walk-off solo homer in the ninth inning, securing a 2-1 victory against the New York Mets.

“It’s what you dream of as a kid,” Peters said. “You make up those scenarios in your head when you’re little, and now I get to be in those situations. They’re high pressure, but at the end of the day, it’s a lot of fun.”

The White Sox claimed two out of three games in the series, both through walk-off victories. Catcher Jake Rogers had contributed a pivotal two-run game-winning homer earlier in the series against the Mets.

Tristan Peters has been a key player, providing multiple walk-off moments this season, including a single in the 10th inning against the Toronto Blue Jays and a walk-off walk against the New York Yankees.

Pivotal Pitching Performance

The game was characterized by strong pitching efforts. Sox opener Sean Newcomb delivered two-plus scoreless innings, striking out three. Erick Fedde maintained this momentum for four scoreless innings.

“I thought (Fedde) was great,” Venable said. “Really had everything working, aggressive with the fastball. Kind of looked like it had some good finish on it.”

Hagen Smith was impressive, striking out three batters with two on and no outs in the seventh. Meanwhile, Mets starter Nolan McLean was a formidable opponent, allowing just one hit over six scoreless innings.

Game Highlights and Tension

The White Sox broke the scoreless tie with a double from Andrew Benintendi in the eighth inning, driving in Miguel Vargas for a 1-0 lead. The Mets responded with a tie in the ninth, but Gant Taylor struck out A.J. Ewing, minimizing their scoring.

In the bottom of the ninth, Peters faced reliever Kodai Senga. The strategy was to remain patient and capitalize on Senga’s previous outing strategy. Peters aimed for the fastball and succeeded on a 3-1 count, hitting the winning home run.

“(The Mets) got one (in the top of the ninth), we got one right back, so that was good,” Newcomb said. “It shows what we’re all about.”

Injury Rehab Assignments

On another note, Kyle Teel and Chris Murphy will begin rehab assignments following injuries. Teel is addressing a left ankle sprain, while Murphy is dealing with a left flexor strain.

“My goal is just to get out there and make sure my body’s feeling right,” Teel noted. “And then it will be go time.”
