An airport worker lost their life this week, after being struck by a passenger jet at YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport in Quebec, Canada. The tragic event occurred on Monday. Officials reported the incident involved an Airbus A350 aircraft belonging to French Bee, a low-cost airline. This information comes from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB).

The worker, whose name was not disclosed, was employed by the ground-handling company Samsic. French Bee informed Fox News Digital that the accident happened during pre-departure ground operations for Flight BF5761 to Paris-Orly. The airline explained that the incident took place during the pushback procedure of the aircraft, though the precise details still require confirmation.

The airline extends its deepest condolences to the individual’s family and loved ones as well as its support to colleagues and all teams affected by this event, a French Bee spokesperson stated to Fox News Digital.

French Bee assured full cooperation with Canadian authorities, providing necessary assistance for the ongoing investigation.

Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) expressed deep sadness over the incident. The head of ADM, Yves Beauchamp, confirmed their heartfelt sympathy for the family, associates, and colleagues of the deceased worker. ADM, in collaboration with its partners, offered support to witnesses of the tragic accident.

During this difficult time, our thoughts are with the employee’s family, loved ones and colleagues, to whom we extend our heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences, stated Yves Beauchamp, president and chief executive officer of ADM.

ADM stated it has been cooperating with the relevant authorities since the start of their investigation. The Quebec coroner’s office has also been informed and is examining the cause and circumstances of the death. In light of respecting the victim and their family, ADM decided not to provide further comments and directed the media to the responsible authorities.

This fatal incident in Montreal follows two recent deadly accidents at other major North American airports. Recently, a Delta Air Lines employee died after an airport tug vehicle collided with a jet bridge at Orlando International Airport. Additionally, another incident involved a Frontier Airlines aircraft that struck and killed a person on the runway at Denver International Airport.
