Democrats are looking to secure the first congressional victory of the 2026 midterms, with preliminary results in Guam showing Alicia Anne Garrido Limtiaco leading Republican incumbent James Moylan for the territory’s non-voting U.S. House delegate position. Although this result marks a symbolic boost for Democrats aiming to gain control of the House, the Guam seat does not contribute to the 218 seats required for a majority.
Final results are pending, as ballots remain to be processed before the Guam Election Commission can officially certify the election.
“The latest unofficial figures from the Guam Election Commission position Limtiaco, a Democrat and former Guam Attorney General, with 15,645 votes, representing 51 percent. Moylan trails with 14,983 votes, equivalent to 48.84 percent, giving Limtiaco a lead of 662 votes,” reported the Guam News Network.
The commission’s update did not detail the precincts included, reflecting a divided outcome rather than a uniform shift toward any party.
In the governor’s race, Republican Vicente “Tony” Ada leads with 15,945 votes or 51.45 percent, compared to 14,925 votes or 48.15 percent for Democrat Therese Terlaje.
