Vice President JD Vance’s mother, Beverly Vance Aikins, expressed frustration with Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed over his comments about the second family. In a conversation with Outkick and Fox News host Tomi Lahren, Aikins jokingly suggested she might physically confront El-Sayed due to his repeated critiques of her family. She stated, “I’d probably punch the guy if I ever seen him and then that would get me in trouble. So, I’ll just go with the flow.”
Aikins also discussed her personal journey overcoming opioid addiction and her reflections on her son’s achievements, including his rise to Vice President. Her remarks came after El-Sayed criticized Vance and his family, particularly during an April appearance on “The Allen Analysis Show.”
El-Sayed made controversial statements about Second Lady Usha Vance and the Vance children, sparking widespread disapproval. Aikins commented on the perceived envy directed at her family, attributing it to her son’s public position and appearance, stating, “I think they’re jealous, honestly. I mean, JD is 42 years old. He’s handsome. He’s the Vice President of the United States.”
El-Sayed had claimed, “JD Vance has brown kids who he thinks are less American than everyone else,” suggesting a disconnect between Vance’s political beliefs and his children’s biracial heritage.
The remarks led to backlash, with suggestions that Usha Vance should leave her husband, a sentiment the Second Lady addressed. El-Sayed tied these comments to Vance’s critique of his commitment to Sharia law during a rally in Ohio, further fueling tensions.
During a political event, Vance responded to these personal attacks by urging El-Sayed to cease targeting his family, particularly his wife. In a rally speech, Vance remarked, “But whatever you want to talk about, Abdul, keep my wife’s name the hell out of your mouth, because she’s way out of your league.”
