New App Launched for Tracking Fourth of July Flyovers in Washington, D.C.

A new app launched to help Americans track the Fourth of July aerial flyovers in real-time, created by senior White House official Shawn Chittle. The ‘4th of July Fly Over’ app serves as a companion guide for spectators watching at the National Mall and Washington Monument grounds.

The app features an adjustable countdown timer set to the official schedule, allowing users to keep up with the fast-moving aerial acts. If the flyovers run late or fast, users can manually adjust the timer. The app will automatically display the next aircraft.

This app, the Washington, D.C. 4th of July Fly Over Guide, was announced on July 3. It allows spectators to access photos, history, and basic facts about the aircraft overhead. The app plays a vital role in navigating the ‘Freedom 250’ schedule, covering over nine hours of flyovers and demonstrations.

Real-time flight data syncs with the air show schedule. The showcase begins at 1:14 p.m. with a NASA F-5 flyover, followed by reviews from the Coast Guard, Army, Air Force, Marines, and Navy. The Navy Blue Angels perform at 4:59 p.m., and the Air Force Thunderbirds at 6:25 p.m.

Air Force One is scheduled to fly over just after 7 p.m., with a ‘HUGE 1’ flyover led by the renovated Air Force One at 7:17 p.m. Later, a U.S. Stealth Airpower flyover occurs at 7:38 p.m., followed by an F-22 Raptor afterburner display at 7:53 p.m., and B-1 bombers at 8:07 p.m.

For those staying late, a B-1 afterburner night pass will occur at 10:36 p.m. Users can see detailed information about these aircraft and can bookmark the app or add it to their mobile home screens to avoid missing any part of the event.
