Cody Rhodes Reflects on the Passing of Wrestler Andy Williams

WWE star Cody Rhodes has expressed his sorrow over the death of Andy Williams, a professional wrestler known as The Butcher. Williams passed away at 48 after collapsing following a match at Enjoy Wrestling in Pennsylvania over the weekend.

Williams, also a musician with the band Every Time I Die, was remembered by Rhodes, who played a role in Williams’ debut in All Elite Wrestling. Alongside The Blade and Bunny, The Butcher attacked Rhodes from beneath the ring, marking a memorable entrance.

“When I was away from WWE, I actually recruited him, Blade, and Bunny for a really fun debut. He came up under the ring and they beat me up,” Rhodes shared in an interview with OutKick Dropkick. “I didn’t get to spend enough time with him as a person, but as people have said, he was warm, charismatic, and interesting. He didn’t need the gig; he was super cultured and intelligent.”

Rhodes reflected on the perception of The Butcher: “With the mustache, tattoos, and muscles, you might judge the book by its cover. But he was truly special, intelligent, artistic, and a beautiful person.”

Rhodes noted the shock of Williams’ passing and expressed his condolences to those close to him. He emphasized the lasting impact Williams had on multiple locker rooms and spoke of the fond memories people held of him.

Williams began his wrestling career in the early 2010s, debuting in 2015. He teamed up with Guilmette, forming The Butcher and The Blade in 2017. Together, they appeared in promotions such as AEW, Ring of Honor, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and others.

The professional wrestling community mourned the loss of Williams, appreciating the mark he left on those he encountered.
