Jury deliberations have commenced in the Lindsay Clancy trial, where the focus is on her mental health as medical experts discuss her sanity. Dr. Marc Siegel, a senior medical analyst, highlights that Clancy was on 13 different psychiatric medications, totaling 32 prescriptions, in the four months prior to the incident.
During the trial, discussion arose from the Robertson family, known for their “Duck Dynasty” fame, on their podcast “Unashamed with the Robertson Family”. Jase Robertson, Al Robertson, and Zach Dasher addressed how Clancy’s case has ignited a larger dialogue regarding mental health in America.

Dasher contends that psychiatric issues often lack tangible measurement, observing that depression, for instance, cannot be gauged through traditional lab tests. He argues that psychiatric drugs, like antidepressants and antipsychotics, are frequently misunderstood.
The Clancy case demonstrates, according to Dasher, this spiritual-to-medical shift. Clancy, who faced trial for three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her young children, admitted to strangling them before attempting suicide. The defense argued she was not guilty by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis and alleged overmedication.
Referencing past experiences with mental health treatments in his family, Dasher pointed to issues like lithium deficiency, raising concerns about the widespread prescription of psychiatric medications.
Dasher emphasized that the system falls short in addressing spiritual health, asserting that violent actions often indicate deeper spiritual distress. While expressing sympathy, he insisted on accountability, advocating for Clancy’s confinement in a mental health facility.
Jase Robertson concurred, emphasizing the need for justice, stating unequivocally that anyone who kills their children must face severe consequences.
Dasher underscored the complexity of such cases, recognizing the overprescription of antidepressants and antipsychotics, while also maintaining that medication should not excuse such actions.
