Aaron Rodgers Praises New England Rookie Gabe Jacas

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers expressed admiration for New England Patriots rookie Gabe Jacas following Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. Despite the loss, Rodgers took a moment to applaud Jacas’s performance.

According to a video shared by Morey Hershgordon of 7 Boston, Rodgers told Jacas, “Great job, man. You just kept trying to take my head off.” Jacas appreciated the interaction, commenting later in the locker room, “It was pretty funny to have that interaction with him. I came up to him after the game, he was cool,” as reported by NBC Sports Boston.

Jacas earned the praise through his on-field actions, achieving an interception and three quarterback pressures against the acclaimed quarterback. One of the pressures even led to a lighthearted moment between Jacas and Rodgers during the game. Importantly, the interception marked the first in Jacas’s football career, extending back to his early days in the sport.

“It was just surreal because I never had a pick before in my career,” Jacas reflected. “It was pretty cool to get the first pick against Aaron Rodgers.”

Jacas has shown significant promise early in his career. He secured his first career sack during the opening game against Seattle and followed with his first interception a week later against Pittsburgh. These achievements were notable as Jacas had limited participation in training camp due to injury and contract issues.

Despite criticism from head coach Mike Vrabel regarding his contract, Jacas responded with dedication. He consistently arrives at 6:45 a.m. to practice different techniques and pass-rush tactics with Vrabel before the team’s 8 a.m. meetings.

The rookie’s efforts are yielding results, a necessity as the Patriots contend with injuries. Dre’Mont Jones suffered a shoulder injury on Sunday, and Harold Landry III has yet to play this season. With Elijah Ponder and Quintayvious Hutchins being the only other active edge defenders, Jacas’s development is crucial.
