Travis Kelce demonstrated his prowess once again in the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Indianapolis Colts in overtime on Sunday night. Kelce recorded nine receptions on 11 targets, amassing 101 yards and scoring a touchdown. This was his first regular-season game surpassing 100 receiving yards since facing the Houston Texans on November 4, 2024. He also achieved 117 yards in the postseason against the Texans on January 18, 2025.
At the age of 36, Kelce acknowledges he isn’t as agile as he was a decade ago. However, head coach Andy Reid noted on Monday that Kelce might be spurred by additional motivation, partly due to his marriage. Reid remarked, “Travis put in an immense amount of work. He appreciates his teammates and strives to match their performance. He values the pride in maintaining his competitive edge.”
Addressing concerns about how marriage to Taylor Swift might affect his fitness, Reid stated, “There were doubts about whether he would be in shape due to his wedding. But Travis works hard, matched by Taylor’s work ethic with her demanding shows.” Taylor Swift was present at the game, displaying her wedding ring when Kelce scored and joyfully proclaiming, “That’s my husband.”
Reid also highlighted Kelce’s focus on physical conditioning during the offseason, noting, “Travis concentrated on body strength and specific areas essential for maintaining power and speed. His dedication has resulted in maintained explosiveness.”
The Chiefs secured a tight 33-30 win over the Colts, advancing their record to 2-0 for the season.
