Ben Affleck recently discussed his 14-year-old son Samuel’s liking for luxury items on Kerry Washington’s podcast, “Street You Grew Up On.” Four years ago, Samuel accidentally backed a Lamborghini into another luxury car. Affleck shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel.
The Oscar winner recounted Samuel’s request for a Lamborghini, humorously responding that driving a yellow Lamborghini to a club would be inappropriate. Previously, Samuel was involved in a minor accident at a luxury car rental dealership. At age 10, he accidentally reversed a Lamborghini Urus into a BMW while visiting the dealership with his father and Jennifer Lopez.
The Lamborghini Urus, valued at $250,000 and rented for $1,475 per day, was not damaged in the incident, according to representatives from Affleck and the dealership. Additionally, Affleck had once refused to buy Samuel a $6,000 pair of Dior x Nike Air Jordan 1 sneakers, emphasizing the importance of earning money through hard work.
In discussions with Access Hollywood, Affleck humorously recounted telling Samuel he needed to mow lawns to afford the sneakers. Affleck quipped about the misunderstanding regarding financial responsibility, noting that while he might have money, his son does not.
Affleck has expressed his desire to teach his children about the value of hard work. On the “Today with Jenna & Friends” show, he shared that providing handouts does a disservice to children. His children do not concern themselves with his Hollywood success.
Despite aspiring to make his children proud through his career, Affleck noted that they see more value in his relatable moments, such as memes created from viral photos of him struggling with Dunkin’ Donuts items in December 2020. This experience led to a partnership with Dunkin’, culminating in him directing and starring in its Super Bowl commercial.
During his interview with Seth Meyers, Affleck humorously mentioned that being a meme is the most relevant impression he has made on his kids. While Affleck continues to navigate parenting, he focuses on instilling the fundamentals of hard work and responsibility.
