Katie Zacharia Begins Her Role as New White House Press Secretary

Katie Zacharia has commenced her duties as the White House press secretary, as seen in a photograph from December 14, 2025, in Franklin, Tennessee. Her role will officially begin with her first press briefing on Tuesday. As President Trump’s primary spokesperson, she takes charge amidst declining popularity for Trump and efforts by Republicans to minimize potential midterm election losses.

The Trump administration is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with the media covering the presidency. Last month, restrictions were imposed by the White House on access for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, acknowledged by Trump as adversarial outlets. Subsequently, an investigation was initiated by the Justice Department targeting the five TV networks responsible for pooled video coverage of Trump.

Zacharia, an attorney and mother of four, referred to her new role as the “honor of a lifetime” in a social media post. She lauded Trump’s policies, saying, “His confidence is a true privilege, and his leadership is a blessing to this country.”

Trump acknowledged her consistent personal loyalty in appointing Zacharia. He remarked, “She has an unblemished record of support and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter from the start.” Trump described her as a dedicated “fan and member of MAGA.” Zacharia, 41, is a Pepperdine Caruso School of Law graduate, with a history of engagement in conservative organizations as noted in her online resume.

Zacharia participated in the advisory board of The White Rose Resistance, an anti-abortion group named after Christian students who opposed the Nazis. The group aims to address “the same evils, the same apathy” met by Nazi adversaries. Recently, she acted as a communications advisor for Trump Media & Technology Group, managing Trump’s Truth Social platform. She has appeared frequently as a pro-Trump commentator on conservative channels such as Fox News and Newsmax.

In a Real America’s Voice interview in August, Zacharia commented on the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, asserting that “toxic feminism” distorted public perception. Clancy faced charges for the murder of her three children. The mistrial of the five-week hearing sparked a nationwide discussion on postpartum depression. Zacharia stated, “This started with the advocation of abortion,” raising questions about the beginnings and ends of humanity.

Through her social media accounts, Zacharia has reiterated right-wing conspiracy theories, including allegations of Democratic involvement in pedophile rings. In 2022, she referred to former Democratic White House chief of staff John Podesta as “Pedo Podesta.” That same year, she propagated claims from a far-right commentator suggesting that Democrats “want to mask and rape your children.” When solicited for comment on these posts by NPR, the White House avoided addressing her social media activity and instead emphasized Zacharia’s merits.

Lauded by administration figures, FBI Director Kash Patel described Zacharia as “sharp, fearless” and someone who understands “standing for the American people.” Former press secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed confidence in Zacharia’s capability: “I have no doubt Katie will do great work for President Trump and our country.” In a Saturday segment on Fox News, Zacharia endorsed Trump’s contentious plan to import Russian diesel fuel, criticized across party lines. She also praised Trump for rallying GOP backing ahead of the November elections, implying that congressional Republicans might shoulder blame for any losses. “President Trump has made the case and delivered historic results. I would have loved to see more from our congressional Republicans and Senate,” she commented.
