Former White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, criticized Katie Zacharia, President Donald Trump’s new press secretary. Psaki questioned Zacharia’s legal credentials during her show, “The Briefing with Jen Psaki.” Psaki raised concerns about the validity of Zacharia’s admission to a state bar.
Psaki remarked, “Where exactly is Katie Zacharia licensed to practice law? It’s an odd mystery. A potentially fake lawyer? She should clarify this.” Psaki’s comments came in response to Zacharia’s first briefing in the White House.
I practiced international transaction law, with all the appropriate credentials,
Zacharia stated in response to Psaki’s comments, defending her professional history.
Zacharia holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Pepperdine University, which confirmed her educational qualifications post-appointment. Jim Gash, President of Pepperdine, expressed pride in Zacharia, noting her prior work as a research assistant.
Republican National Committee spokesperson, Natalie Baldassarre, also backed Zacharia. She addressed Psaki’s career, saying, “Jen Psaki is trying to regain relevance to salvage her faltering show.” Baldassarre praised Zacharia’s commitment to Trump and her communication skills.
Psaki reflected on Zacharia’s predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, and shared clips of Zacharia’s remarks. Psaki expressed discomfort, stating, “Oh, Katie, Katie, Katie, I am deeply uncomfortable already. I’ve watched multiple times today.” She critiqued Zacharia’s delivery, suggesting improvements were needed.
President Trump, however, praised Zacharia’s debut. He said, “I thought she was very good,” when asked about her performance. The White House commended Zacharia’s briefing, highlighting her role in communicating the administration’s achievements.
Trump advisors emphasized the test Zacharia faces as midterm elections loom. Zacharia’s first briefing set the stage for her role as the 37th White House Press Secretary.
“Katie Zacharia delivered a commanding inaugural press briefing,” the White House noted, “showcasing the Trump administration’s accomplishments for the American people.”
