An American Airlines flight arriving from Spain faced an incident involving brake problems and a blown tire after landing at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.
Flight 41, operated by a Boeing 787-800 and traveling from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport in Spain, touched down safely around 2:30 p.m. local time. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed this information, explaining that the crew encountered brake trouble followed by a tire issue post-landing.
The FAA noted that a total of 234 passengers and 11 crew members were onboard when the incident occurred. After landing, passengers disembarked the plane using stairs and were transported to the terminal via bus. The agency announced plans to investigate the situation further.
American Airlines stated that emergency services met the aircraft as a precautionary measure. The passengers were successfully bused to the terminal without any reported injuries. The airline has temporarily removed the aircraft from service for a thorough maintenance inspection and offered apologies to the passengers for the inconvenience.
The underlying cause of the brake issue remains unspecified at this point. Efforts are underway to determine what led to the malfunction. The Chicago Fire Department has not yet provided comments regarding the incident.
