Intense Racing and Dramatic Finish at Talladega Superspeedway

2 weeks ago 0

NASCAR races at Talladega Superspeedway often bring high stakes and thrilling moments. During the YellaWood 500, the racing was tight, and the competition fierce, with significant impacts on the NASCAR Cup Series Championship chase.

During the third stage on October 25, 2026, a major crash unfolded on lap 183 as drivers approached the finish line. Joey Logano and Riley Herbst were among those who took hard hits. With six laps left, David Gilliland led, while Logano had Carson Hocevar behind him and Ross Chastain ahead. Logano’s car got loose, spun, and collided with the wall. His car flipped over, skidding on its roof across the line.

Riley Herbst’s car also met misfortune. After colliding with the wall, he lost control and barreled full speed into the inside barrier, ultimately stopping only upon bouncing off the wall. Despite the severity, both Logano and Herbst were taken to the infield care center. They were evaluated and later released.

The race quickly resumed, with Kyle Larson leading into overtime. He picked up the white flag but fell back on the backstretch. In the final moments, Larson surged forward, narrowly winning by 0.041 seconds over William Byron and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. This victory brought Larson closer to claiming the title, with only two races remaining.

Before the race, Larson led the standings, with Christopher Bell trailing by five points. Bell’s early crash affected his standing, giving Larson a strategic edge.

“Larson’s win at Talladega strengthens his bid for the championship,” stated Ryan Gaydos, senior editor for Fox News Digital.
