Jay-Z is set to take the stage for the Super Bowl LXI halftime show. Apple Music announced the news during halftime of the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game. The event is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Apple Music’s announcement included a playful nod with the phrase, “GOAT’s out of the bag,” highlighting Jay-Z’s involvement. The decision to feature Jay-Z comes after speculation and reports from Puck News and OutKick that placed him ahead of other artists like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and Harry Styles as contenders for the performance.
Since 2019, Jay-Z and his entertainment company, Roc Nation, have been instrumental in producing and selecting performers for the halftime show. The 56-year-old rapper has also familiarized himself with SoFi Stadium, having concluded his Jay-Z 30 Tour there in October with consecutive shows.
The Jay-Z 30 Tour marked the 30th anniversary of his debut album “Reasonable Doubt,” released in 1996. The tour’s three consecutive shows at Yankee Stadium in July grossed over $42 million, as reported by OutKick.
Jay-Z has an impressive 25 Grammy Awards under his belt and holds the distinction of being the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. His last album, “4:44,” was released in 2017.
While Jay-Z will make his debut at the Super Bowl, his wife, Beyoncé, has already graced the stage. She headlined the halftime show in 2013 and performed again in 2016 alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars.
