DHS Focuses on Noncitizen Voting Concerns Ahead of Midterms

1 hour ago 0

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is taking a strong stance against illegal voting by noncitizens. During a recent appearance on My View with Lara Trump, James Percival, DHS general counsel, emphasized the agency’s commitment to address this issue. Percival warned that noncitizens who vote illegally would be identified, charged, and deported. This message comes as the country gears up for Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Percival stated, “Our message now is, whether it’s now or later, if you illegally cast a vote, we will find you, we will charge you, and we will deport you.” The DHS has instructed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to deport undocumented immigrants involved in illegal voting practices. According to a press release, ICE has already detained several noncitizens for voting unlawfully.

The patriots of ICE have arrested dozens of noncitizens who illegally voted in American elections,” emphasized Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “Some of them have criminal histories, including assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence, drug trafficking, burglary, and driving under the influence.

Mullin reiterated the importance of maintaining election integrity, asserting that American elections are intended solely for citizens. The Trump administration remains steadfast in its efforts to prevent illegal voting.

The crackdown has not been without controversy. In October, Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs challenged the findings of federal investigators. After the Justice Department indicated over 400 noncitizens had registered illegally to vote, Hobbs questioned the accuracy of this data. He claimed their state’s review exposed various “glaring deficiencies.” Hobbs articulated concerns over the reliability of the list.

Hobbs stated, “This list includes United States citizens and is not reliable. Without individualized proof of ineligibility, it would be both irresponsible and illegal for election officials to decline to process a registered voter’s ballot.”

Percival noted that the agency has charged more than 200 individuals with noncitizen voter fraud and anticipates more cases to arise. This statement underscores the DHS’s determination to pursue ongoing cases of illegal voting. Meanwhile, political tensions rise with midterms approaching and the issue of voter fraud remains a challenging topic.
