Mack Hollins Makes Barefoot Statement at Super Bowl LX

1 month ago 0

The New England Patriots’ wide receiver, Mack Hollins, is known for avoiding footwear away from the football field. True to form, he arrived barefoot in Santa Clara, California, ahead of Super Bowl LX. The 32-year-old surprised many with his unusual attire, which included a Hannibal Lecter-style facemask, handcuffs, shackled feet, and a red jumpsuit emblazoned with ‘Range 13.’

As Hollins approached the Patriots’ locker room, he was seen holding a high school jersey belonging to Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel, who once played for the Patriots, aims to be the first to secure a Super Bowl victory both as a player and coach with the same team.

During early warmups at Levi’s Stadium, Hollins sported the No. 84 ‘Warriors’ jersey, a nod that may also reference the 1979 cult film ‘The Warriors.’ As the Patriots remained undefeated on the road during the regular season and triumphed in the AFC Championship game in Denver, the ‘road warriors’ theme became a rallying cry for the team.

This ‘Warriors’ concept was reinforced by Vrabel, who showed the team numerous clips from the 1980s wrestling duo, the Road Warriors, throughout the season. When the clips became scarce, he turned to scenes from ‘The Warriors’ movie, which surprisingly resonated with the players.

For Super Bowl LX, though the Patriots were designated the home team for this neutral-site event, they opted for their white road jerseys to maintain their ‘road warriors’ mentality. This isn’t the first time Hollins’ pregame apparel caught attention. In January 2025, before an NFL playoff game, he made headlines arriving at the stadium in beachwear.
