The Perception and Reality of Higher Education Costs

2 hours ago 0

The perception of affordable education may not align with reality for many students. While programs can appear cost-effective on paper, financial and practical barriers often persist.

Recent discourse in higher education media highlights a ‘collapse of confidence’ in the value of higher education. However, a broader understanding is necessary.

A study by Gallup and the Lumina Foundation surveyed 14,000 adults aged 18 to 59. It reveals that many Americans still view higher education as crucial, especially for career growth. College degrees hold similar significance today as they did two decades ago. Additionally, interest in further education remains robust. Fifty-eight percent of those surveyed considered pursuing a degree or credential in the past two years.

These findings underscore the enduring value placed on higher education, despite perceived challenges around accessibility and affordability.
