Robert Irwin recently shared his experiences of living in Los Angeles while participating in Dancing with the Stars, revealing that it was a daunting yet rewarding experience. During his time in the city, he discovered the challenges of driving in L.A. traffic, which he described as the most nerve-wracking part of his stay.
“Oh my gosh! I learned to drive in America—it was the first time I’d ever driven on that side of the road, in L.A. That was the most terrifying part of the entire ‘Dancing with the Stars’ experience… was being on the road in L.A.,” Irwin confessed, likening it to the fear of handling a crocodile.
I don’t know how they do that. Give me a crocodile any day!
Despite the challenges, Robert Irwin won over fans and took home the title for Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars. He expressed his gratitude for the support he received from American fans, even though his heart remains firmly rooted in his homeland of Australia.
“Well, I think the thing is like, I grew up out and about, you know, in the wilderness of Australia. Being in that L.A. vibe was so incredibly different,” Irwin remarked. “But it was also really amazing because I felt so much support from across America, and it felt wonderful.”
Irwin acknowledged that while it was exciting to return home to familiar surroundings, he cherishes the friendships and experiences he gained during his time in the U.S. “I was excited to get home, but it’s also, you know, equally beautiful to come back to America to see all my ‘Dancing with the Stars’ mates and all of that is really special,” he continued.
In January, Irwin conveyed to The West Australian that he realized he’s “not a city kid,” after his extended stay in California. He expressed relief at returning to his home in the Australian bush, where he was raised alongside his mother, Terri, and his sister, Bindi. The Irwin family is dedicated to continuing their late father Steve Irwin’s legacy at the Australia Zoo.
Robert discussed his attendance at the 2026 Super Bowl, noting that it was a dream come true for him. In his interview, he shared why he brought a snake along as his guest to the event.
Well, you know, it’s actually always been a dream of mine to come and watch a Super Bowl. So when they said come out and experience it, I’m like, ‘Oh, 100%,’ but I had to bring a snake with me. I mean, it kind of only made sense.
The Irwin family’s continued dedication to wildlife conservation is evident in their ongoing work at the Australia Zoo, keeping Steve Irwin’s adventurous spirit alive.
