Sonny Rollins: Celebrated Jazz Saxophonist Passes Away at 95

Sonny Rollins, widely regarded as America’s greatest living jazz musician, passed away on May 25 at his home in Woodstock, New York. He was 95 years old. Known as the “saxophone colossus,” Rollins was celebrated for his musical eloquence and inventiveness, remaining at the forefront of jazz for six decades.

Rollins’ passing was confirmed in a statement from his publicist, Terri Hinte. Rollins had retired from performing over ten years ago due to pulmonary fibrosis.
