Novak Djokovic experienced a tense moment during the French Open against Brazilian player Joao Fonseca. During his third-round match, a cameraman came too close for comfort, sparking a reaction from Djokovic.
As Djokovic secured his second consecutive set over 19-year-old Fonseca with a 6-4 victory, a cameraman approached him closely at Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris. The proximity prompted Djokovic to sarcastically ask, “Can you come more in my face?” and urged the cameraman to make space.

Following Djokovic’s plea, the cameraman obliged and stepped back. TNT Sports commentator Nick Mullins noted that an assistant referee intervened to remind the cameraman to maintain an appropriate distance. The cameraman was then substituted for another.
On the court, Djokovic seemed positioned to win by needing just one more set to advance to the Round of 16. However, Fonseca pulled off a surprising comeback, winning the next three sets to defeat Djokovic with scores of 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5. This victory was a significant achievement for the 19-year-old Fonseca, ranked No. 28, as he managed to overcome the highly experienced and No. 3-ranked Serbian.
This match was the first encounter between the two players, showcasing Fonseca’s potential as an emerging star in tennis. His victory propels him to face Norway’s Casper Ruud, ranked No. 15, in the fourth round. A win would send Fonseca to the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros.
