AEW Women’s Champion Thekla Triumphs at Double or Nothing

4 weeks ago 0

The AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla faced significant challenges at the Double or Nothing event on Sunday. The event featured a four-way match where she defended her title against Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Hikaru Shida.

As the match began, Thekla’s opponents targeted her immediately, aiming to eliminate the “Toxic Spider” early. This left Statlander, Shida, and Hayter to contend with each other. An initial alliance formed between Statlander and Shida quickly dissolved. Shida interrupted a pin attempt by striking Statlander with a kendo stick. This led to further conflict between the two former allies.

Despite being temporarily sidelined in the match, Thekla waited for an ideal moment to re-enter. The opportunity arose when Hayter and Shida clashed outside the ring, each attempting a double clothesline.

Inside the ring, Thekla seized the chance to attack Statlander, who was left alone and disoriented. Delivering a powerful stomp, Thekla pinned Statlander, securing her title defense.

Thekla claimed the championship from Statlander in February on “Dynamite.” Since then, she has successfully defended her title six times.

Speculation about Thekla’s future grows following her victory. In a post-match conversation, she revealed her interest in the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament and expressed support for her teammate Skye Blue.
