Alison Papworth Shares Her Thoughts on the Next James Bond

3 hours ago 0

The search for the next James Bond is in progress, and Alison Papworth, a former Bond girl, has expressed her opinion. She hopes the character stays true to its roots.

What do I hope? I know they’re about to announce the next Bond, aren’t they? Papworth said in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Papworth, who once appeared alongside Roger Moore in the films ‘For Your Eyes Only’ and ‘Octopussy,’ believes a male actor should fill the iconic role.

If they’re true to the books, I hope it’s a man. A man, just a man. Yes, I think it would be very strange if it were a woman. Don’t you? she emphasized.

Papworth’s comments surfaced amid speculation about Gary Oldman’s ‘Slow Horses’ co-star Jack Lowden possibly taking over the role.

Rumors and Speculation for the Next Role

Oldman mentioned on ‘The Morning Show’ that Jack Lowden might be on the shortlist for Bond. Oldman shared, There’s six people on a shortlist. I heard a rumor that they’ve picked James Bond, but they haven’t announced it yet.

Amazon MGM Studios gained the franchise’s control in 2025, while Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the next Bond installment. Steven Knight will be writing the script.

Actors like Paul Mescal, Jacob Elordi, and Jack O’Connell have been mentioned as potential candidates for the role, according to People magazine.

Papworth’s Nostalgic Moments as a Bond Girl

Papworth reminisced about her experiences as a Bond girl. Flying first class to Rio de Janeiro and trying caviar were highlights. Roger Moore, her co-star, kept the set atmosphere light with his humor.

Very dry, very droll, described Papworth about Moore, recalling his fondness for beef drippings, even while filming in India.

The professionalism and uniqueness of the Bond franchise have left a lasting impact on Papworth’s life.

Continuing Her Journey Post-Bond

Though Papworth’s acting career slowed, she transitioned into interior design. Her passion for it led her to establish a successful business with her late husband, developing properties.

Today, Papworth is a director at Camhall Design & Consultancy, a U.K.-based company. She also co-founded Lustre & Lustre London, a luxury cleaning service, and supports Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

The Bond films introduced her to lasting friendships, notably with Vanya Seager and Carole Ashby, both former Bond girls. Papworth cherishes these personal bonds.

Life After Bond

Papworth maintained involvement with the Bond community through signings, interacting with devoted fans who have kept her connected to the franchise.

Bond fans are very good at tracking you down, she noted, recalling events like a signing in Birmingham, which included ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Doctor Who’ fans.
