Martin conceded 16 earned runs over 24 innings, including a game against the Red Sox with five earned runs in four innings.

Red Sox’s Unbelievable Resurgence

The Boston Red Sox executed a surprising deadline maneuver by acquiring Adley Rutschman from the Orioles. At 32-46 on June 24, Boston’s subsequent 28-5 run stands as an impressive turnaround, featuring three separate five-game winning streaks. Their ongoing streak includes a sweep of the formidable Dodgers. Sustaining such a win rate for the season’s remainder may be challenging, but their performance has been noteworthy.

On Tuesday, Patrick Sandoval, with four starts to his name, takes the mound for Boston. He has a 3.32 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP. Except for a game against the Rays with four earned runs, Sandoval has allowed two or fewer runs in his starts. His season opener against the White Sox was solid, with only one earned run on five hits over 4.1 innings.

Where Do They Stand?

Given the Red Sox’s current momentum, leaning towards them seems prudent. Recent miscalculations against Boston didn’t yield results. Both teams’ deadline gains offer renewed vigor. While Davis Martin might deliver more strong performances, his recent challenges and a tough June suggest potential fatigue. Therefore, backing Sandoval and the Red Sox on the moneyline appears wise.
