During a recent interview, investor Bill Ackman voiced his critical view of the Democratic Party, calling it “crazy, radicalized, and anti-American.” Speaking with Katie Miller on the “Katie Miller Podcast,” Ackman expressed concern about the current state of the party.
Ackman went as far as to say, “I think the Democratic Party is in the worst place it’s ever been, in the 250-year history of the country.” He further commented on the presence of high-quality Democrats, acknowledging some senators and congressmen, but maintained that the party as a whole is in dire straits.
One prominent figure Ackman discussed was Senator Chuck Schumer. He mentioned a former friendship with Schumer but expressed disappointment, believing Schumer has compromised his values over time. Ackman criticized the career path politicians often take, implying they either align with the party or face losing their positions.
“That’s the really low point for politicians when they compromise on their values,” Ackman remarked.
In his critique, Ackman referred to a Senate candidate from Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed. El-Sayed has faced scrutiny due to alleged familial connections to the Muslim Brotherhood. These allegations stem from social media posts by El-Sayed’s half-sister, Eman Abdelhadi, discussing their mother’s past activism.
El-Sayed has repeatedly denied any ties to the organization. In a town hall, when questioned about disavowing the Muslim Brotherhood, El-Sayed stated, “Sure, yeah, absolutely,” while questioning the motives of the inquiry.
Besides targeting party figures, Ackman has also criticized New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Though he acknowledged Mamdani’s intelligence and charisma, Ackman disapproved of his policies, deeming them detrimental to New York City.
As for a potential political future, when asked if he’d run for mayor, Ackman was non-committal, saying, “I would say possibly, but I think I could achieve a lot more by helping a very talented person do that job.”
