1 hour ago 0

The 2026 National League Championship Series (NLCS) turned expectations upside down. Despite winning 103 games during the regular season, many considered the Milwaukee Brewers underdogs. Yet, in the first three games, the Brewers appeared as a formidable force against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who struggled to keep up.

Milwaukee’s recipe for success hinged on stellar relief pitching and opportunistic plays. They secured a 3-0 lead in the series, showcasing their ability to capitalize on every chance. In Game 1, Milwaukee edged out the Dodgers 2-1. Game 2 saw the Brewers execute precision with batting, going 6-14 with runners in scoring position. By Game 3, a comeback in the seventh inning helped secure a 6-2 win.

Game 4 created an opportunity for Milwaukee to make their first World Series appearance since 1982. The Dodgers, meanwhile, faced the pressure of four must-win games to save their hopes of a third straight championship.

“For a few brief moments, it looked like the Dodgers were poised to force a Game 5. Shohei Ohtani’s three-run homer gave them a 4-0 lead.” Milwaukee manager

In the early stages of Game 4, the Dodgers fast-started with Kyle Tucker’s lead-off single, leading to Shohei Ohtani’s three-run homer that brought emotion and hope to the Dodgers. Yet, the Brewers’ response was swift. In the fourth inning, Brice Turang and William Contreras set the table for Jake Bauers to close the gap with a key hit.

By the fifth inning, Milwaukee leveled the game at 4-4. David Hamilton, despite his lower regular season stats, delivered critical plays, raising expectations with a vital single.

Milwaukee’s bullpen proved almost invincible, shutting down Dodgers’ attempts. JoJo Romero and other relievers thwarted key batters like Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman.

The Brewers’ offense fired up in the sixth with Garrett Mitchell’s home run. Despite Dodgers’ repeated attempts, they struggled in crucial moments, finishing with poor results in scoring positions.

David Hamilton punctuated the Brewers’ win with a home run in the ninth. By the series’ end, Milwaukee’s bullpen had allowed only two runs throughout the postseason.

The postseason narrative highlights baseball’s unpredictability. The Brewers’ success demonstrates how hot streaks carry teams, regardless of previous form. While Los Angeles begins structuring for a future comeback, Milwaukee advances to the World Series, ready to seize more triumphs.
